Methods: Research Design
A perfect analysis of a badly designed study is still a badly designed study. This course covers the half that happens before any data exist: turning a vague curiosity into a testable hypothesis, deciding what to actually measure, and choosing a design that can answer the question you asked.
The Statistics Core teaches the tests. Methods teaches the decisions that determine whether those tests mean anything: reliability and validity, randomization, the trade-off between between and within designs, and the limits of quasi-experiments and observational work. The final lessons cover the replication crisis and what preregistration fixes.
There is no statistics prerequisite. You only need an interest in how good studies are built. The course pairs naturally with the Data and Writing courses, which cover what happens once the data arrive. To see these decisions made in sequence on one real study, read One Study, Start to Finish.
